Met Eireann weather forecast persistent rain to hammer Dublin with plummeting temperatures

A miserable week is in store for Dublin with heavy rain and blustery winds.

Temperatures will see a dramatic swing as the mercury will plummet from the recent near 20 degrees to as low as 12 degrees.

This morning will start off cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle. But persistent rain will develop in the afternoon which will turn heavy before clearing this evening.

The highest temperatures will be around 14 or 15 degrees in moderate southerly winds.

Tonight will be mostly clear and dry at first but a band of showers will spread from the southwest early on, turning heavy at times.

The showers are expected to quickly clear northwards, leaving dry and clear conditions for the rest of the night with the lowest temperatures of 9 or 10 degrees.

Tomorrow will be dry and sunny at first but will turn cloudier in the afternoon with rain developing by evening.

It'll become blustery with the rain, as moderate to fresh and gusty southerly winds develop with the highest temperatures of 16 or 17 degrees.

While there is no further forecast for Dublin, here is what the national outlook says:
