The cold snap is set to return as Met Eireann has warned of chilly temperatures over the next few days.
The nights will be particularly frosty but the weather will be largely settled with dry conditions. However, independent forecaster, Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather said the cold snap won't linger for too long.
Speaking on Twitter he said: "Longer range weather model trends don’t show any great support for the prolonged cold with temperatures up next week. High pressure dominating so largely settled with very little rain. Keeping a close eye on the start of March but the second round of SSW could see delayed response into March."
