People across Ireland have been worried that plummeting temperatures could lead to extortionate energy bills amid the cost of living crisis.
There are concerns that people may be forced to choose between heating or food in some dire cases. But there is some good news on the weather front as Met Eireann said the mercury is set to rise to above-average temperatures this autumn.
The country will enjoy mostly dry conditions with "substantially" below-average rainfall. However, unsettled conditions will make an appearance during week two with air pressure decreasing close to average levels.

Here is what Met Eireann's long-range forecast says:
Week 1 (Friday 23 September to Thursday 29 September)
A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Week 1 will see high pressure dominating Ireland’s weather, keeping conditions relatively settled across the country. Temperatures will be fairly typical for the time of year. Rainfall amounts will be substantially below average.
Week 2 (Friday 30 September to Thursday 06 October)
"Week 2 is expected to turn slightly more unsettled with air pressure decreasing close to average levels. Temperatures are expected to remain fairly typical for the time of year, with rainfall amounts staying below average.
Week 3 (Friday 07 October to Thursday 13 October)
"As it stands, high pressure is expected to become dominant once again in Week 3, leading to fairly settled conditions. Temperatures are expected to become marginally warmer than average, with rainfall amounts once again below average.
Week 4 (Friday 14 October to Thursday 20 October)
"Uncertainty increases considerably in Week 4. Early indications are that air pressure will be close to average with temperatures staying marginally above average. Conditions are forecast to turn somewhat wetter with above-average rainfall forecast for most areas."
