A band of warm air is set to move across Ireland in the coming days bringing with it some long-awaited summer weather.
Temperatures are expected to rise into the mid to late twenties as the warm front moves in, with higher temperatures also expected in Spain and Portugal.
A forecaster said: "Latest forecast of upper air temperatures shown on this animation as some warmer air finally moves up over Ireland. Also, note the very warm air into Spain and Portugal!"
However, the remainder of today will stay cloudy but dry in most areas.
Some patchy rain or drizzle may arise in parts of Leinster and Ulster in the afternoon and evening, with sunny spells developing towards the south and southeast.
Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees before turning cooler tonight with light rain extending from the northwest mainly over Connacht and Ulster, staying largely dry elsewhere.
Lowest temperatures 12 to 14 degrees with light to moderate westerly breezes
There'll be sunny spells tomorrow, Wednesday. It'll be a cloudier day in the north, with a little light rain or drizzle.
Highest temperatures of 16 degrees in the northwest to 21 degrees in the southeast, in moderate, occasionally fresh, west to northwest winds.
A mild and humid night on Wednesday. Most places will be dry. There'll be a little drizzle on north-facing coasts.
Lowest temperatures 13 or 14 degrees with moderate northwest winds.
Cloud at first on Thursday with sunny intervals developing during the afternoon and evening, the best of which will be in the south and east.
Highest temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees generally, lowest in the northwest in light northwest breezes.
Overnight Thursday, cloud will build from the northwest with outbreaks of light rain following towards morning. Lowest temperatures 11 or 12 degrees with light breezes.
Mainly dry and cloudy at first on Friday, with outbreaks of light rain in the northwest dying away.
However, things will improve for the weekend as sunny spells, and isolated light showers will develop in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees in light northerly breezes.
Saturday and Sunday will be dry with light winds and sunny spells. Temperatures will reach 22 to 24 degrees.
High pressure is expected to dominate our weather next week with largely dry and warm conditions.
