Met Eireann's sensational forecast as expert says 30C conditions are set to blast Ireland

Ireland is set for a week of glorious heat as a band of hot air pushes up from the south of the country.

Conditions will improve further over the weekend, with temperatures reaching as high as 30 degrees in places.

A forecaster said: "The weather models in pretty good agreement now that hot air will move up over Ireland and the UK around Sunday and Monday. Latest temperature forecasts show 30c possible in Ireland by Monday."

Met Eireann has predicted conditions to remain settled until the end of the week with just a few isolated showers in places.

It will stay mostly dry for the rest of the day, with a few late sunny spells developing this evening.

Highest temperatures of 17 to 24 degrees, the warmest in the east. Westerly winds, generally light in strength.

Apart from an isolated light shower in the north, it will be dry tonight with clear spells and some mist patches.

A fresher, cooler night than of late with lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in a light or moderate northwest breeze.

Mainly dry across Leinster and Munster on Wednesday, with spells of sunshine.

Scattered showers in Connacht and Ulster but some bright or sunny spells too.

Top temperatures will range from 17 to 22 degrees, warmest in the southeast, with a light to moderate west to northwest breeze.

Largely dry with clear spells overnight and lows of 9 to 12 degrees, with mostly light westerly winds.

It will be generally dry early on Thursday with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. However, it looks set to become mostly cloudy later in the day, with patchy rain affecting parts of the west and north.

Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in a moderate southwest breeze.

There will be a good deal of cloud about early on Friday with the chance of some light showers or drizzle in parts of the west and north.

Clearing up later on with the best chance of sunshine in the east and south.

Top temperatures ranging from 19 to 24 degrees, warmest in the east of the country in a moderate southwest breeze.

Saturday looks to bring scattered showers interspersed with sunny spells.

A warm day with highest temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees with light to moderate southwesterly breezes.

Sunday and early next week look to bring plenty of dry and warm weather, with daytime maximum temperatures possibly reaching the high 20s.
