Met Eireann's Halloween weather forecast as temperatures to finally drop at night to as low as 4C

Halloween night is set to be the coldest in some time as above average temperatures for this time of year finally drop on Monday evening.

Met Eireann's forecast for Bank Holiday Monday, October 31, suggests that trick-or-treaters will see a dry night to start with before rain moves in over the western half of thecountry overnight.

To start with, today is set to be blustery and wet, with showery rain in the south spreading northwards to most areas.

As it clears, there will be sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy and thundery.

Met Eireann says it will be breezy with moderate to fresh and gusty easterly winds, becoming southerly later.

Winds will increase to strong at times. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.

Tonight will be breezy with a mix of clear spells and scattered showers.

A few heavy and thundery showers are possible, mainly in the south. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees in a moderate to fresh southerly wind, occasionally increasing strong.

Tomorrow, Sunday, will be breezy with sunny spells and scattered showers.

Some of the showers will be heavy and there will be a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms.

Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with a moderate to fresh and gusty southerly wind, easing by evening.

Most areas will be dry with clear spells early on Sunday night but rain will move into the southwest and west overnight.

It will become breezy again as moderate to fresh and gusty southerly winds develop. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees.

The general overview for the coming week is unsettled with spells of wet and breezy weather, with temperatures staying above average.

Halloween morning, Bank Holiday Monday, will be wet and breezy as rain moves eastwards across the country, along with moderate to fresh and gusty southerly winds.

The rain will be followed by generally dry and sunny conditions, with light south to southwest winds, and will clear the east coast in the early evening. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.

Monday night will start dry and clear but rain will move in over the western half of the country overnight.

It will be colder than recent nights, as temperatures drop to between 4 and 8 degrees, and there will be light to moderate southerly winds.

On Tuesday, rain will move east across the country during Tuesday morning and afternoon and will be followed from the west by sunshine and scattered showers. Light to moderate winds, southerly first and becoming westerly after the rain. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

Tuesday night will be mostly dry and clear, with just isolated showers. Outbreaks of rain are likely to reach the west coast by Wednesday morning. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees, with moderate to fresh and gusty southerly winds developing by morning.

On Wednesday, rain will spread east across the country on Wednesday morning and afternoon, followed by sunny spells and scattered showers. It will be a breezy and blustery day with moderate to fresh and gusty south to southwest winds. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees.

In general, it'll remain unsettled and mild for the time of year.
