Unsettled weather is here to stay as Met Eireann has issued a grim forecast for the rest of the week.
Dublin will see some respite with sunny spells predicted on Satursay but it will be wet and windy overall. Today will be blustery with scattered showers and occasional bright or sunny periods with the highest temperatures of 16 or 17 degrees.
Tonight will start off with clear spells and isolated showers but a band of rain will move in from the northwest and heavy and thundery bursts are possible. It will be breezy and blustery with the lowest temperatures of 12 or 13 degrees.

Sunny spells and scattered showers have been forecasted for tomorrow but it will turn largely dry by the evening. It will be a cool and breezy day with temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees.
There is no further forecast for Dublin but here is what the national outlook says:
Friday night
"Mostly dry and clear, although a few light showers will persist near northern and western coasts. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees with a light to moderate westerly wind.
Saturday
"A drier day with sunny spells and isolated light showers. It will become cloudier during the evening and patchy light rain and drizzle will develop in the west and northwest.
"Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees with a light to moderate south to southwest wind.
Saturday night
"Cloud will increase across the country during Saturday night and rain will move into the west and northwest. It will become breezy too with a moderate to fresh wind developing. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees.
Sunday
"Wet and breezy as rain moves eastwards across the country. Drier and clearer conditions will follow in the northwest by evening. Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees with moderate to fresh and gusty southerly winds, veering westerly."
