Met Eireann's 30-day forecast shows warmer than usual weather for Ireland is just around the corner

Met Eireann's 30-day forecast shows warmer than usual weather for Ireland is just around the corner

The long-range forecast has given an indication of what weather Ireland can expect up until the end of March.

It is good news for those hoping for better weather following the recent storms, with more settled weather on the way as well as temperatures forecast to be "slightly above normal".

Here's what Met Eireann says we can expect for the rest of January and until mid-February:

Week 1: February 28 to March 6

Indications are for high pressure to be more prevalent over Ireland than in preceding weeks bringing a less unsettled picture. There is a decreased risk of storminess as compared to recent weeks and an increased likelihood of settled weather conditions albeit with some rain or showers at times. Temperatures are predicted to be close to the seasonal average allowing for some overnight frosts. Rainfall amounts overall are forecast to be below normal but some parts of the south and east may experience near or slightly above average rainfall totals.

Week 2: March 7 to March 13

There are no significant anomalies forecast in week 2. However, current indications suggest it will be somewhat more settled than average for early to mid-March with high pressure more dominant than usual. Temperatures are forecast to be slightly above normal whilst rainfall totals are expected to be around the seasonal mean. The risk of storminess is reduced as compared to the seasonal average.

Week 3: March 14 to March 20

At week 3, there is a tentative signal for more settled weather conditions as compared to normal for mid-March with high pressure more prevalent than the seasonal mean. Mean temperatures are forecast to be above normal whilst precipitation totals are expected to be close to or slightly above average for mid-March.

Week 4: March 21 to March 27

There is limited signal in the forecast in week 4. However, some subtle signs weather conditions over Ireland will be more settled than average with high pressure more of a feature than normal for late March. Temperatures and rainfall totals are forecast to be close to the seasonal norm.
