April showers could well bring May flowers if Met Eireann's 30-day forecast is anything to go by - but there is good news for anyone afraid of more 'hazardous' weather.
The last week of March saw rain, hail and snow fall across the island, with temperatures dropping as low as -5C in parts, having hit highs of 18C just a fortnight ago.
And though Met Éireann has confirmed that the cold snap will take a short break this weekend, it seems that things are going to be wet as we head towards Easter weekend.

The national forecaster offers a range of services, from daily forecasts to UV indexes and monthly data in relation to climate change.
One other handy thing they do is predict the next four weeks of weather from their current projections.
Week One - April 1 to April 7
We start from today, with the current indicators revealing that high pressure will settle just to the west of Ireland.
Met Éireann say that this will bring "relatively settled conditions", but thanks to a predominantly northerly airflow it will feel "much chillier" than recent days. Rainfall will be around about average for the southern part of the country.
Week Two - April 8 to April 14
The Met Eireann prediction continues: "On Week Two, low pressure will return on a more typical westerly airflow.
"Above average rainfall is expected, especially in the west while temperature are expected to be near normal, or slightly above normal in the south of the country.
"Overall the risk of hazards while not particularly high, will be higher than previous weeks especially with respect to rainfall in the west."
Week Three - April 15 to April 21
This is when things start to pick up a bit more.
The Met Eireann forecast for Easter starts: "Low pressure will recede to the west somewhat allowing a milder southerly airflow to set up. Rainfall values will be a little above normal for the time of year however it will be more settled than the previous week and overall the potential for warnable weather phenomena will be low."
Week Four - April 22 to April 28
The final week of the month is the hardest to predict at time of writing for Met Eireann.
What the forecaster has said is that at the moment things look like they "will be relatively benign with near average temperatures and overall slack southwesterly winds, while precipitation will remain marginally above normal. There is no stand out hazardous weather expected at this time."
