Met Eireann has predicted a Halloween washout for many counties today as a low-pressure system stirs up brutal conditions for some.
Things don’t look likely to improve this week either, as the Irish forecasters say it will remain “unsettled with spells of wet and blustery, or windy weather, and there will be a continued risk of flooding after a wet couple of weeks.”
Today, longer spells of rain are expected in the south and west, becoming fairly widespread this morning with some heavy falls - especially over Munster and south Leinster with flooding and some disruption likely.

It will be dry and bright in western areas during the afternoon but rain will only slowly clear eastwards through the evening.
Rain in eastern counties will clear east early tonight, followed by clear spells and a scattering of showers.
It will be colder than recent nights, as temperatures drop to between 4 and 8 degrees.
A Status Orange weather warning for rain comes into force for Cork, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny at noon and lasts until 5pm.
Met Eireann said: "Intense rain this afternoon (Monday) will lead to some flooding."
A separate status yellow rain warning in place for the entire country until midnight on Monday as conditions bring the risk of flooding.
The National Forecaster said: "Heavy rain on Monday (Halloween) will lead to localised flooding and some disruption."
There will be some sunny spells on Tuesday morning with scattered blustery showers, mostly in the northwest. These showers will become more widespread through the late afternoon and evening hours.
There will be a wet and potentially very windy start to Wednesday, however, the rain will clear to sunny spells and scattered blustery showers by afternoon, with the showers mostly becoming confined to western coasts by evening.
Thursday will then see showery outbreaks of rain pushing into the midlands, which will ease through the day.
Parts of the east may remain dry, with good sunny spells developing across much of the country by evening.
Friday will begin mostly dry and bright through the morning, but clouds will increase with rain pushing in from the southwest through the afternoon.
Winds will also back southerly through the afternoon and freshen through the evening.
As for farther afield, at this point, Met Eireann says: “Current indications suggest that after a wet Friday night, Saturday will be a showery day, and while showers look to continue on Sunday but it could get quite windy too.”
