Met Eireann has said high pressure will begin to build once again over Ireland this week, bringing with it some dry and bright spells to replace the recent rain.
While many areas bask in the latest bout of summer sunshine before a return to the school year at the end of the month, two regions will miss out on the best of conditions this week.
Thursday will be dry with good sunny spells for most, but a few passing showers are due in the northwest.

It’ll be feeling fresher than of late in moderate to fresh northwesterly winds with highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees.
As for the next few days, the Irish forecasters said: “High pressure will gradually build over the country for the end of this week and over the weekend.
“There will be a good deal of dry weather overall with temperatures gradually increasing into the high teens.”
Friday will see a good deal of dry weather overall with some sunshine breaking through and scattered showers - most frequent in the north and west.
Highest temperatures will range from 14 to 18 degrees in a light to moderate northwest breeze.
Saturday will be dry in many areas with sunny spells and a few light showers, but once again it will be somewhat cloudier in Ulster and Connacht with the chance of patchy light rain and drizzle near coasts there.
Highest temperatures will hit 20 degrees in light to moderate west to northwest winds.
It’ll be another mainly dry and bright day on Sunday with the chance of just isolated light showers in the west and north and highest temperatures of 21 degrees in a light breeze.
Heading into next week, Met Eireann says “High pressure will remain dominant for the early part of next week, bringing largely dry conditions with more in the way of sunshine.
“Temperatures will climb slightly into the high teens or low twenties.”
