Met Eireann has pinpointed the arrival of grim conditions this week as some counties are advised to prepare for "month's worth" of rainfall this week.
Counties located along the Atlantic are in for the worst of conditions from today as storms brewing offshore bring wet and windy conditions on land.
These are due to spread to eastern areas on Thursday night, bringing heavy downpours and a temperature drop for some.

It’ll be mostly cloudy today with patchy light rain or drizzle moving in across parts of Connacht and west Ulster by late morning.
Elsewhere, it will be largely dry with a mix of clouds and some bright spells today. By late afternoon, more persistent rain will develop in Atlantic coastal counties while maximum temperatures will range from 11 to 14 degrees.
These outbreaks of rain or drizzle will ease and clear eastwards on Wednesday morning with long dry periods developing along with some bright spells - especially in the north of the country.
There is the chance of persistent rain returning to some southwestern counties towards evening and top temperatures will reach between 13 and 16 degrees.
Rain is expected to clear northeastwards on Thursday allowing some brief sunny spells to develop widely.
However, later in the day, showers will move into Atlantic coastal counties and it will turn rather blustery.
It will remain mild elsewhere with highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees expected. However, these showers will push eastwards across the country for a time on Thursday night. They will become mainly confined to Atlantic coastal counties later on where lowest temperatures will drop to around 7 degrees.
Friday is expected to be a fresh and bright day with sunny spells and scattered showers. Highest temperatures will range from 11 to 14 degrees in fresh westerly winds.
It looks set to be dry early on Friday night, but it is expected to turn wet and windy overnight as outbreaks of rain move in from the Atlantic once again.
As for the coming weekend, the Irish forecaster has said: “Early indications suggest Saturday will be a rather windy day with rain clearing eastwards in the morning.
“Bright spells and widespread showers will follow from the west as the rain clears. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees.
“A good deal of uncertainty in the forecast for Sunday, but it is likely to remain unsettled with rain or showers at times.”
