“The weather looks like being drier than normal with above-average temperatures.”
The monthly prediction shows that May is due to see high-pressure systems rolling over Ireland from week two - from May 6 to 12.
Rainfall amounts will continue to be below average as well as mean air temperatures being slightly above average for the time of year.
From Friday, May 13, there will be a slight dip in conditions with the temporary arrival of a low-pressure system - however air temperatures will likely remain normal.
There will be some rain but heavy showers and extreme weather are unlikely in this period according to current forecasts.
Met Eireann says: “Week 3 of the forecast indicates a small low-pressure anomaly. However, it looks like the upper air won’t be colder than normal.
“Therefore, we can expect some rain or showers at times, but extreme amounts or very heavy showers are unlikely. Temperatures will be around normal for mid-May.”
Then on week four, current indications show milder summer conditions arriving in.
