Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Mayo amid horrendous conditions.
Wind and rain is seeping across much of the country today but the north west is worst-affected.
While issuing the warning, Met Éireann predicted "very strong southwest winds with gusts of 80-100km/h, strongest near coasts and on high ground with potential for wave overtoppping."
