Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for parts of Ireland this evening.
A thunderstorm warning is in place until 10pm tonight for Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Galway, Leitrim, and Roscommon. The national forecaster is warning of "localised thunderstorms/lightning activity with heavy downpours".
Heavy rainfall could result in spot flooding in some parts of the country. Showers are expected to continue overnight with temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees.

However, rain will become isolated later with some mist and fog developing. Tomorrow will see a mix of showers and sunshine at first but showers will be more frequent in the afternoon and evening with a chance of some thundery downpours.
Temperatures will be around 15 to 17 degrees. A Met Eireann forecaster said the weekend is set to be unsettled with rain or showers but will be mild and warm, especially in sunny spells.
Saturday night
They continued: "Becoming drier early in the night under broken cloud with lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees, with light southerly breezes.
Sunday
"Sunny spells and scattered light showers during the morning and early afternoon, followed later by cloudier skies as rain and drizzle gradually extends countrywide, last to arrive to the east. Highest temperatures will range 14 to 19 degrees, warmest in the east, in moderate south to southwest winds.
Sunday night
"Heavy rain will follow overnight, clearing into the Irish Sea before morning. Low cloud and mist too. Very mild with lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees, in moderate south to southwest winds."
