Met Eireann have forecast a sudden change in temperature and wintry showers at the end of this week.
They have pinpointed the night that it will be the coldest.
Mild weather and rain will quickly be replaced by freezing temperatures, hail, sleet and possibly snow.
Today will start dry and bright before becoming cloudy in the afternoon.
Highest temperatures of 10 or 11 degrees in moderate westerly winds.
There will be patchy drizzle during the night with lowest temperatures of 6 or 7 degrees.
Here is the forecast for the rest of the week:
Tomorrow: "Dry for much of the day with some sunny spells and just a little patchy drizzle. Cloud will increase from the west with outbreaks of rain arriving by evening. Moderate southwesterly winds will freshen with the arrival of the rain. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees.
Tomorrow night: "Rain will clear the southeast early in the night to dry, cold and clear conditions. Scattered showers of rain, hail or sleet, will move into the northwest and west. The showers will extend further inland later in the night but many parts of the south and east will stay dry. Some snow showers are possible on mountains in Ulster. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees in moderate westerly winds.
Friday: "A cold and bright day with sunny spells and scattered showers of rain or sleet, possibly snow on higher ground. The showers will be most frequent in the north and west. Highest afternoon temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly wind.
Friday night: "Cold with clear spells and scattered showers becoming confined to coastal parts of the west and northwest. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees. Light to moderate southwest winds will freshen towards dawn with outbreaks of rain pushing in across Ulster.
Saturday: "There is some uncertainty in the forecast but current indications suggest that rain will extend over the northern half of the country, with scattered showers further south. Breezy too in moderate to fresh southwest winds and highs of 8 to 10 degrees.
Saturday night: "Outbreaks of rain continuing over the northern half of the country, turning heavy at times. Continuing breezy in fresh southwest winds. Lows of 5 to 9 degrees.
Sunday: " Blustery outbreaks of rain easing through the day with some bright or sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds."
