Met Eireann Ireland weather forecast miserable week of heavy showers with floods expected

Met Eireann have forecast a wet and miserable week for the entire country.

Rainy showers will be never-ending with flooding expected.

The heavy bursts of rain will then be followed by a dramatic change in temperature.

Today will be rainy and windy with highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees.

Blustery outbreaks of rain will continue tonight with spot flooding expected.

Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees

Here is the forecast for the rest of the week.

Tomorrrow: "Sunday looks set to be a cold and blustery day with widespread showers and some sunny spells. A few hail showers are possible. Highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees. Feeling colder owing to brisk westerly winds.

Tomorrow night: "Cold, calm and clear with frost and possible ice. Towards morning, cloud and patchy drizzle will arrive into western counties. Lowest temperatures -1 to 4 degrees, coldest in the east.

Monday: "Some brighter spells across the midlands and east, but overall cloudy and breezy with patchy outbreaks of drizzle. Mild though with top temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees, in fresh southwest winds.

Monday night: "Remaining mild, cloudy and breezy with outbreaks of rain moving into the west and north overnight. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees, in brisk southwest winds.

Tuesday: "Another mild day with blustery outbreaks of rain. However, parts of the east and southeast wil stay fully dry with some sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in mostly fresh southwest winds.

Tuesday night: "Outbreaks of rain will push down across the country, as westerly winds moderate. Colder weather will move in overnight with lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees, coldest across Ulster and Connacht.

Wednesday and Thursday: " Sunshine and scattered showers, some wintry in the west and northwest. Highest afternoon temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees. Feeling even colder owing to a stiff westerly breeze. Frost and ice too, especially for sheltered areas after-dark."
