Met Eireann is predicting a big change is on the way as the “boring weather is coming to an end”.
Today will begin cloudy and breezy with a narrow band of rain quickly moving southwards through the morning in fresh and gusty westerly winds.
Drier, brighter and cooler weather will follow for the afternoon and winds will turn northwesterly and ease with highs of 10 degrees.
Tonight will be dry and cold with clear spells, but it will become cloudier from the west overnight. Lowest temperatures of zero to plus 2 degrees, in light winds.
Alan O’Reilly at Carlow Weather tweeted: “A windy but mild start to the weekend but improving through the day and brighter and cooler weather pushes down from the North and winds ease.
“The boring weather is coming to an end with strong winds at times over the coming days.
“The increased wind over the coming days will be welcomed by the Irish electricity grid which has been suffering badly over the last few weeks with high pressure keeping winds light.”
Tomorrow will be mostly dry to start with just some patches of light drizzle. But through the afternoon a band of heavier rain accompanied by strong and gusty westerly winds will sweep through Dublin, with a clearance to scattered showers following.
Temperatures will reach up to 9 degrees.
