Met Eireann forecasts 'unsettled' week and pinpoints arrival of grim conditions alongside warning

Met Eireann has predicted a total washout for some this week as showers and windy conditions move in over Ireland from today.

Things look set to remain that way into the weekend with temperatures also taking a dip as we head into the month of October.

Before the big change, however, it will be largely dry with sunny spells and just isolated showers, most frequent in Ulster and Leinster.

It’ll be cool and breezy in moderate to fresh and gusty northwest winds and highest temperatures will range from 12 to 15 degrees.

As nighttime approaches, it will be generally dry and cloudy, though isolated showers will continue to feed into Leinster and Ulster at times.

Rain will push into the southwest by morning and the lowest temperatures will reach 8 degrees in some areas with moderate to fresh northwest winds.

Tuesday will be cloudy in the west and southwest with rain developing in Munster and Connacht through the morning and afternoon, as the weather u-turn begins to take effect.

These showers will reach the west and south Leinster by evening and will while in the north and east things will be dry with a few showers and sunny spells.

It will continue to feel cooler than in recent days, with fresh northwesterly winds and highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.

The general outlook for the rest of the week shows “a good deal of dry weather on Wednesday and Thursday,” according to the Irish forecaster with it “becoming more unsettled at the end of the week and over the weekend with a spell of wet and windy weather possible.”

Wednesday will become drier and brighter on Wednesday with scattered showers and sunny spells developing alongside highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in moderate northwest winds.

Thursday will be another generally dry day with sunny spells, though there will be occasional light showers as highest temperatures reach 13 to 16 degrees in light northwesterly winds.

“There is some uncertainty in the forecast for the end of the week,” the forecaster warns, but “current indications suggest that Friday will be a wet and rather windy day with rain spreading from the west and possibly turning heavy at times.

“Remaining unsettled for the weekend with further showers and spells of rain spreading from the Atlantic.”
