Ireland is in for an unwelcome change in conditions next week as a polar airflow makes its way over us - bringing with it cooler temperatures, wind, rain, and frost.
The colder conditions will begin to be felt on Sunday with a bitter start featuring frost and some fog patches.
It will be a dry and sunny morning across many southern and eastern counties but clouds will extend from the northwest with rain following from the middle of the day.
Overcast conditions and outbreaks of rain will then extend southeastwards across the country during the course of the afternoon and evening, according to the Irish forecaster.

However, parts of the southeast will see the best of brighter conditions until evening.
Temperatures are expected to return to average next week with blustery, cloudy, or overcast conditions expected alongside some rain and drizzle in the early days of next week.
It will begin to brighten up a little by midweek, but will still remain unsettled and wet at times.
Monday will start off dull with scattered outbreaks of rain or drizzle - most persistent in the north and west.
At night, things will be more mild and cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle and lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in moderate westerly winds.
Tuesday will be another cloudy day with rain affecting northern counties, while patchy light rain and drizzle is expected elsewhere.
This rain will extend across the country early on Tuesday night, clearing to showers later, and lowest temperatures will range from 4 to 8 degrees in moderate westerly winds.
Forecasters have said Wednesday will be a windy day with widespread showers and some sunny spells.
Meanwhile, Thursday will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain - most persistent in the south.
The best of the dry and bright conditions will be across Ulster, where highest temperatures will range from 8 to 13 degrees in mostly light northerly breezes.
As for Met Eireann’s further outlook for the week, it says “Remaining mostly cloudy and unsettled with occasional falls of rain and showers up to, and through the weekend.”
