Grab those brollies because Dublin will be lashed by heavy rain and powerful gusts today.
Met Eireann has warned of wet and windy conditions this week with freezing temperatures around New Year's Eve. However, a weather expert said that Ireland won't be seeing any snow despite the mercury plummeting
Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather said: "A lot of uncertainty around New Year's Day on weather models. GFS model here has storm with strong winds in the Irish Sea and rain for most and not too cool. Some snow cover possible in Scottish Highlands. The ECMWF model has much lighter winds but cooler air and risk of some snow, especially in Scotland but also possibly for Ireland. However, this is just one run and very uncertain so I wouldn’t be expecting snow in Ireland at present."

Today will start off wet but rain is expected to clear by around midday followed by frequent showers with some turning heavy. It will turn windier with fresh to strong and gusty southwest winds developing. Daytime temperatures will be around 10 or 11.
Tonight will be breezy with fresh and gusty westerly winds. There will be showers with clear spells overnight and the temperatures will be around 4 or 5 degrees.
More showers expected tomorrow with some bright or sunny spells with temperatures of 6 or 7 degrees. The day will start off windy but winds will slowly ease to a moderate southwesterly through the day and the evening will bring dry spells.
There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what Met Eireann's national outlook says:
Thursday night
"Windy with strong southerly winds developing. Rain will spread from the Atlantic overnight with heavy rain in the west. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees, coldest in the north early in the night with temperatures rising overnight.
Friday
"Outbreaks of rain, heavy in the morning. Some dry and bright spells will develop for the afternoon, but there will be some further rainfall in parts too. Rather windy with fresh to strong southwest winds easing later in the day. Afternoon highs of 5 to 9 degrees.
Friday night
"Mostly cloudy with showery rain in parts. Mainly moderate southwest winds. Some drier spells too. Temperatures may fall close to freezing in the north and west, with a touch of frost possible.
Saturday (New Year's Eve)
"There is uncertainty in the forecast for New Year's Eve but current indications show that there will likely be some showers but with a good deal of dry weather too in the afternoon. Winds are signalled to be mostly light. Highs of 5 to 8 degrees. There is potential for it to be frosty on Saturday night, especially in the north."
