Met Eireann’s forecast for the remainder of the week features rain outbreaks ranging from light showers to heavy downpours.
The weekend looks set to see more rain and things don’t look to be changing in a hurry for the new week ahead either.
Today (Thursday), there will be patchy outbreaks of rain pushing into Atlantic coastal counties in the morning, but these will gradually extend across the country in the afternoon and evening.

There will be decent dry and bright spells too, the best of which will be towards the southeast with highest temperatures of 16 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds.
A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers are expected on Friday but the showers will become more frequent along Atlantic coasts later in the evening with a chance of some thundery downpours.
Saturday will bring bright or sunny spells and occasional showers - these will be heaviest and most frequent in the west.
On Saturday night, there will be further showers and there's a possibility of strong winds for a time.
Sunday looks likely to be a bright day with sunny spells and scattered showers as highest temperatures reach 15 degrees in some areas with moderate westerly breezes.
As for next week, the Irish forecaster says: “At the moment looks like wet and windy weather will move up over Ireland on Sunday night and that there will be spells of heavy rain at times early next week with the possibility of strong winds also. It will become much milder.”
