Met Eireann forecast unusual weather for rest of June with no sign of summer conditions

Met Eireann has published an unusual forecast for the remainder of the month of June as rainfall amounts are expected to be above average every week.

Many will have been hoping for some improved conditions over the coming weeks, and although some lucky areas are likely to see some sunshine, it’s not great news overall.

From week one - June 6 to June 12 - a changeable weather pattern is expected as Ireland lies between high pressure over Europe and low pressure near Iceland.

As a result of this, the air flow will bring frontal bands of rain moving in from the Atlantic at times with “rainfall amounts forecast to be above normal.”

Despite this, air temperatures are expected to be close to or a little above normal for early June.

Heading into week two - from June 12 to June 19 - Ireland is due to remain close to areas of Low Pressure, bringing more changeable and showery weather.

There will be moments of pleasant sunshine at times too but rainfall totals are forecast to be above normal once again.

Mean air temperatures are expected to be slightly above normal.

As for week three - June 20 to June 26 - confidence in the forecast decreases according to the Irish forecasters, however, current indications show a continuation of a low pressure system affecting the weather nationwide.

There will be days of high pressure however, it will continue to be showery at times and rainfall amounts are due to remain above normal for the time of year.

Heading towards the end of June and into July, “there is a trend in the forecast for Low Pressure to remain close to Ireland, bringing changeable weather conditions with it.”

Rainfall totals will likely continue to be slightly above normal whilst there is no trend in temperature available at this point.
