Met Eireann forecast sunshine 'in all areas' but pinpoint drop in temperatures as low as 4C

Met Eireann’s forecast for the rest of this week features some stunning bouts of sunshine and calm conditions with an autumnal change happening in the background.

Ireland has been bathing in high temperatures since the beginning of summer, but this week marks a change as they begin to drop for the arrival of more typical September temperatures.

Today will be dry with some clouds in the north at first, but it will be sunny in all areas. It will be a little breezier in the south with moderate winds and highest temperatures will range from 15 to 19 degrees, from north to south.

It’ll be another dry day on Wednesday, although cloudy to start, it will become sunnier for many in the afternoon. Northern areas will stay quite cloudy and there is a chance of a light shower near the coast as temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees are expected.

As we head into the second half of the week, the Irish forecaster says “High pressure bringing mainly dry conditions. Turning cooler as the week progresses.”

On Thursday, well-scattered light showers in the north are expected, but it will be mainly dry elsewhere.

It’ll be rather cloudy with best of sunny spells in the north to start and it’s due to brighten up elsewhere later in the day as well.

Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees are predicted with light to moderate northwest breezes.

On Friday, things will be dry for most areas with a mix of cloud and sunny spells and a moderate northerly breeze - however, isolated showers are possible. Highest temperatures will range from just 13 degrees in the north to 17 degrees in the south.

It will stay dry overnight but temperatures will begin to turn chilly with lows of 4 to 8 degrees.

Next weekend will continue to see dry weather for most of the country, with a few showers possible in northern coastal areas.

Light winds will sweep across Ireland and it’ll likely be quite cloudy with some sunny breaks however, highest temperatures will remain in the mid teens.
