Most of the country is in for some sunshine today before a major u-turn in conditions is expected to arrive.
Things will turn stormy very quickly this week as heavy rain batters some areas alongside ‘gusty’ winds coming in off the coast.
It will be mostly dry today apart from the odd light shower, however, there will be long spells of autumn sunshine and just a partial build-up of cloud during the afternoon.

After a chilly start to the morning, afternoon temperatures will range from around 14 to 17 degrees in moderate northwest breezes.
A change will be seen overnight as cloud thickens from the west and rain will spread to Atlantic coastal counties before midnight. The rain will sweep eastwards across the country overnight, turning heavy and persistent with the possibility of localised flooding.
The rain will be accompanied by strengthening southerly winds with gales developing at the coast while lowest temperatures early in the night will drop to 6 degrees in some areas - but it will turn milder later.
It will be wet and windy on Friday morning with outbreaks of rain along with some squally downpours. Rain will clear eastwards into the Irish Sea in the afternoon with sunny spells and showers following from the west.
Maximum temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees are due in strong and gusty southerly winds which will veer westerly.
Saturday will be a bright day for many with a mix of sunshine and showers, however, it will be cloudier in southern coastal counties with the possibility of some rain for a time towards evening.
On Sunday, it looks set to be a predominantly dry day with sunny spells and just a few showers. Top temperatures will range from 13 to 16 degrees in a moderate westerly breeze.
It will become mostly cloudy on Monday morning with scattered outbreaks of rain or drizzle and by the afternoon, this will become more persistent and heavy rain will develop across the west and north of the country.
This looks to continue into Tuesday with damp and breezy conditions forecast with mostly cloudy skies and outbreaks of rain or drizzle. It will be very mild and humid with highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in fresh and gusty southerly winds.
