Met Eireann has forecast a welcome change in conditions this week after a weekend of weather warnings for torrential downpours.
The worst of conditions were seen in the south of the country over the past 48 hours, but it looks as if a high-pressure system coming in off the Atlantic will clear the way for sunny spells and dry weather.
It will be cloudy this morning with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle as well as mist and fog in parts too.

Whilst sunnier skies will gradually develop over Connacht, Ulster and north Leinster, it will remain cloudier elsewhere with lingering outbreaks of rain and drizzle, mainly confined to southern counties by late afternoon.
Most areas will be dry by evening with highest temperatures will range 20 degrees for some.
Tuesday will be a mainly dry day with long spells of sunshine but it will be a bit fresher with top temperatures hitting19 degrees - best weather is expected in the south, in no more than moderate northerly breezes
On Wednesday, it will be dry overall but quite cloudy with the best of the sunny spells across the south and southeast. A few light showers will continue across the north, especially along the coast and highest temperatures will reach 19 degrees in light northerly breezes.
Thursday will be another predominantly dry day with good sunny spells breaking through after a cloudy start. It will once again feel a bit fresher with highs of 14 to 17 degrees in mostly moderate northerly breezes.
Friday will be dry once again but it will also be very calm with some good sunshine to begin though clouds will likely move in from the west later, according to the Irish forecaster.
As for looking farther afield to his weekend, Met Eireann says “high pressure will continue to keep conditions settled. It will however become cloudy at times with occasional patches of mist or drizzle.”
