Ireland is set for a drop in temperatures as wintry conditions move across the country.
Met Eireann has predicted that Ulster could be seeing some snow showers on Thursday, with certain areas on high ground also expected to be covered in snow on Friday morning.
Thursday morning will be mostly dry with some sunny spells and just a little patchy drizzle.
A band of rain will move into the northwest in the afternoon, turning heavy and squally in places and slowly clearing southeastwards across the country during the evening and early night.
Met Eireann said: “It will be windy too with fresh to strong southwesterly winds, which will veer northwesterly and moderate as the rain clears. Temperatures in the afternoon will be around 10 to 12 degrees but will drop sharply as the rain clears.
“Early in the night, rain will clear the southeast with drier, colder conditions following from the northwest. Scattered showers of rain, hail or sleet, will move into the northwest and west.
“The showers will extend further inland later in the night but many parts of the south and east will stay dry. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees in moderate westerly winds.”
Friday will see more cold conditions, with the possibility of snow still high.
The showers will be most frequent in the north and west, extending across the country during the afternoon.
Highest afternoon temperatures will remain at just 5 to 8 degrees in moderate to fresh and blustery westerly wind making it feel even cooler.
Friday night will see cold with clear spells and scattered wintry showers. Once more, they will mainly become confined to coastal parts of the west and northwest.
Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees.
Saturday will start fairly bright, but cloud will be increasing through the morning, patchy outbreaks of rain will develop through the afternoon, with rain will become heavier and more persistent in the northwest through the evening.
Outbreaks of rain will continue overnight, turning heavy at times before gradually sinking south towards morning.
Blustery outbreaks of rain will continue on Sunday through the day, extending to most areas once again with just limited bright or sunny spells developing.
Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds.
