Met Eireann forecast showery conditions across Ireland before temperatures could soar to 20C next weekend

Ireland is set to be battered with 'cool and showery' conditions over the coming week.

Met Eireann has forecast scattered showers across the country every day up until Wednesday, with heavy downpours in some parts of the country.

The national forecaster's further outlook for the week is: "Some uncertainty but there are signs that it will become mainly dry and settled later next week. Temperatures will rise into the high teens, possibly into the low 20s."
