Met Éireann forecast for All-Ireland final day has surprise in store for Galway and Kerry fans

It appears Croke Park may avoid much of the rain forecast by Met Éireann for the All-Ireland Senior Football final between Kerry and Galway on Sunday.

83,000 supporters will descend on Croke Park and they may actually leave the rainy weather behind them in Galway and Kerry with the west of the country likely to endure rain and thunderstorms on Sunday, according to Met Éireann.

Saturday has been a wet and breezy day for much of the country and the miserable conditions may continue overnight with humid conditions to persist.

Sunday too may be sticky for players in Croke Park as Met Éireann predicts "a humid and breezy day."

They say: "Showers or longer spells of rain over the western half of the country will become more widespread through the morning and afternoon with some heavy downpours and isolated thunderstorms. "

However, there may be a reprieve for those in Dublin for the match with Met Éireann saying there "will be long dry and bright spells also, especially in the east of the country. Highest temperatures of 17 to 23 degrees in fresh southwest winds."

Looking beyond Sunday, the weather will become more settled for the early days of next week as high pressure moves over the country.

" We will see a good deal of dry weather with occasional showers. Daytime temperatures in the mid to high teens with winds gradually easing," Met Éireann said.
