Met Eireann has said temperatures could soar as high as 27C in the coming days as Ireland enjoys a summer scorcher.
The good weather comes thanks to an area of high pressure that's building over Ireland.
High and low pressure systems cause day-to-day changes in Ireland’s weather. In general, high pressure during the summer tends to bring fine, warm weather that can lead to long warm sunny days and prolonged dry spells.
The national forecaster says high pressure will dominate over the weekend and into next week, bringing mostly warm and dry weather with a mix of cloud and sunny spells.
It’s expected to feel very mild and humid as daytime temperatures get hotter by the day.
By Monday, Met Eireann says the mercury could reach a scorching 27C - making Ireland as warm as Los Angeles.
The hot weather could see Ireland record its warmest weekend of the year so far.
Giving its forecast for the weekend, it said: “Saturday morning will be mostly cloudy with patchy drizzle and mist in places. The afternoon and evening will be brighter with spells of warm sunshine developing. Highest temperatures of 16C to 23C, coolest in Ulster and warmest in Munster with light north to northwest breezes.
“Sunday will be warm and largely dry with good sunny spells developing after some early morning mist or drizzle. Highest temperatures of 20C to 25C, warmest in the midlands, with light variable breezes.”
Things will heat up even more next week.
The State meteorological service continued: “Monday will be the warm and dry with good spells of sunshine. Highest temperatures of 21C to 26C or 27C with mostly light southerly breezes.
“Tuesday will be a cloudier day with rain and drizzle developing in the west and north and spreading southeastwards, becoming very light and patchy as it does so. It won't be quite as warm with highest temperatures of 16C to 21C, warmest in Leinster and light south to southwest breezes.
“Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be mainly dry with bright or sunny spells. light winds and temperatures reaching the high teens to low twenties.”
