Dublin is set to bake in 28C heat today as Ireland's heatwave begins to intensify ahead of an expected peak on Monday.
Met Eireann's latest weather forecast this morning describes Sunday in Dublin as "dry and very warm with bright or sunny spells".. Highest temperatures of 26 to 28C will be experienced today, with light to moderate southerly breezes.
And today is just the starter ahead of tomorrow's main course, with the mercury expected to jump up to 31C on Monday - with an outside of Ireland's all-time temperature record being beaten. The record of 33.3C was logged at Kilkenny Castle back in 1887, but a chance remains that we may see the day's heat spike above that in the Phoenix Park, according to weather expert Alan O'Reilly.
