Met Eireann bank holiday forecast says Dublin to bask in sunny conditions before miserable change

Met Eireann are forecasting a miserable change with wet, rainy conditions on the way this bank holiday weekend as cooler air moves in over the country on Saturday.

Temperatures could be as high as 20C in some parts of the country today with good sunshine expected for Dublin, but areas in the south could be as low as 14C as rain moves in.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Today will be dry with spells of sunshine in many areas. However, it will be cloudier in Munster and south Leinster with scattered showers this morning and showery rain developing through the day, most persistent in the afternoon.

"Highest temperatures of 14 degrees in the east to 20 degrees in the west, though it will turn cooler over the southern half of the country as rain develops, in moderate easterly winds."

Meanwhile, it's looking like tonight will bring a "mix of clear spells and showers", with rain most frequent in the south and southeast, with more isolated showers elsewhere.

Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in a light to moderate easterly breeze.

Sunday will be largely dry with sunny spells for Connacht and Ulster. However, it will be cloudy in Munster and Leinster with scattered showers.

The forecaster added: "Patchy rain will develop in Leinster and parts of Munster during the afternoon and evening, but it will stay drier apart from scattered showers elsewhere. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees generally, but reaching 18 or 19 degrees in the west and northwest, in light to moderate easterly winds."

Bank Holiday Monday will be a "drier day overall with sunny spells and scattered showers."

Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees, coolest along eastern and southern coasts in a light easterly breeze.
