Messi, Mbappé Headline AP’s World Cup All-Tournament Team

Ahead of Sunday’s final between Argentina and France, the Associated Press named its all-tournament team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Unsurprisingly, the top goal scorers from the two teams left standing–Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé–headline the squad. Both star forwards scored five goals prior to Sunday’s match and have played pivotal parts in their teams’ success.

Including Messi and Mbappé, 10 of the 11 players named to the squad were on one of the four teams that reached the semifinals: Argentina, France, Croatia and Morocco.

England’s Jude Bellingham was the only player not on a semifinal team to earn the honor.

The team was selected in the standard 4–3–3 formation that’s been employed by most of the countries at the 2022 World Cup. Here’s a look at the full squad, as selected by the AP:

Goalkeeper: Dominik Livakovic (Croatia)

Right back: Achraf Hakimi (Morocco)

Left back: Theo Hernandez (France)

Center back: Josko Gvardiol (Croatia)

Center back: Nicolas Otamendi (Argentina)

Midfielder: Sofyan Amrabat (Morocco)

Midfielder: Jude Bellingham (England)

Midfielder: Antoine Griezmann (France)

Striker: Kylian Mbappé (France)
