There are huge queues outside Merseyrail stations as a power surge has suspended a major train line.
The travel provider's Northern Line started experiencing major issues after a power surge on Friday (February 3) just before 4pm. As a result Southport and Ormskirk services are currently starting and stopping at Sandhills and no Northern Line services are leaving Liverpool Central.
Pictures of Sandhills station show huge queues on the pavement outside as commuters wait for rail replacement buses. Passengers hoping to travel from Liverpool Central are being told they can use their tickets on Transport for Wales services from Liverpool Lime Street.

A spokesperson from Merseyrail said: "A power surge on the network has caused significant disruption to services on Merseyrail’s Northern line. We are still experiencing issues following the incident.
"Southport and Ormskirk services are currently starting and terminating at Sandhills. There are no Northern line services to or from Liverpool Central currently.
"Passengers between Liverpool city centre and Liverpool South Parkway can use their Merseyrail tickets on Transport for Wales services from Liverpool Lime Street. Rail replacement buses are in operation from Aintree to Kirkby.
"Rail replacement buses are operation from Moorfields to Sandhills, and from Sandhills to Hunts Cross. All Wirral line services are running as scheduled.
"Passengers are advised to check the Service Update page (using the link above) or our Twitter feed @merseyrail before travelling. We apologise to all of our passengers who are affected by this disruption, we are working hard with Network Rail to restore services as soon as possible."
