Merseyrail passengers faced another day of chaos on Friday, with incidents occurring across the network.
The operator has faced difficulties in recent weeks, with faults on the trains leading to a restricted timetable and the entire network shut down on this week's national strike days. But today a host of individual incidents caused further problems for passengers.
Passengers on the Wirral line were met with chaos this morning because of power supply issues between Hamilton Square and Liverpool. Issues shortly after 7am meant trains were unable to travel into Liverpool.

As a result, New Brighton and West Kirby services were forced to terminate at Birkenhead North. Chester and Ellesmere Port services were forced to start and terminate at Birkenhead Central for a period. Merseyrail later said the problems were caused by an electrical fault in the area of James Street station, with rail replacement buses brought in to take passengers between Birkenhead North/Central and Moorfields in both directions.
But this wasn't only problem Merseyrail and its customers faced on what was a difficult end to the week. The network was also disrupted by a trespasser on the line near Bootle, which resulted in an emergency isolation of the track.
This caused all northern line services to be temporarily suspended between Liverpool and Waterloo, Walton and Rice Lane. Other services faced major delays.
And Merseyrail's troubles didn't end there either. Reports of a vehicle striking a bridge in the Wallasey area. A tweet from the rail operator said this incident meant all New Brighton line services would have to start and terminate at Birkenhead North for a period.
