A Mercedes driver caused a three car crash on the M60 on Sunday morning, after attempting a 'late exit' The smash happened after the driver attempted to leave the carriageway at the M56 exit.
Motorway police rushed to the scene, which saw the black Mercedes clip a red Land Rover Discovery, that then ploughed into a barrier and hit a third vehicle. There were no serious injuries reported in the incident.
Heavy traffic began building after the smash, with two lanes closed off by motorway police. The driver of the Mercedes was reported for due care and driving license offences, police confirmed.

The crash was reported on Sunday morning (August 28) at around 9am. It caused congestion as two lanes remained closed as the scene was cleared by emergency services.
North West Motorway Police announced the nature of the incident on social media. Pictures showed the red Discovery visibly damaged after smashing into a metal barrier with another car also involved.
They wrote: "Our Me patrols attended an RTC this morning on the M60 where the Merc tried a late exit for the M56. Clipped the Discovery that then hit the barrier and a third vehicle.
"Thankfully no injuries but driver of the Merc reported for due care and driving licence offences."
