Memphis Depay has admitted he is uncertain of his future at Barcelona, having emerged as a target for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Depay arrived at the Nou Camp just before the 2021/2022 season, but appears to be surplus to requirements following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski. Injury has prevented him from appearing at all for Barca so far this campaign, though he was included in the Netherlands squad for the World Cup.
He appeared for 28 minutes in their opening game of Group A on Monday night, in a 2-0 win over Senegal. Louis van Gaal's side are one of the favourites to win the tournament, which will come to an end just before the transfer window opens again.
But Depay has now admitted that he has no idea what the future holds for him following the World Cup. He instead insisted that his focus was on helping Van Gaal's side finally go all the way in the tournament.
“I am very happy to play again. I have needed a long time to reappear. It hasn't been easy mentally, but I've worked hard to get there and I've played half an hour. It's a step. It's incredible to play football again," he said after the win over Senegal.
“If you don't play well but win 2-0 against the African champion, you can't not be happy, but we have to improve. Now we are happy, but from tomorrow it is time to think about Ecuador. The injury has been hard, but I'm already recovered and I'm enjoying a World Cup.

"We have a good team that can prove things. I don't want to think about the past, I'm focused on the World Cup. I also don't want to think beyond this competition. I don't know what will happen after the World Cup."
Depay's admission about his uncertain future potentially opens the door back up to the Red Devils. Over the summer, United were linked with making a move for the Dutchman in the final days of the transfer window.
He was thought to be an option for the Red Devils, with Erik ten Hag looking to boost his attacking options. Ten Hag worked with Depay at PSV Eindhoven, with United chiefs valuing his attacking versatility.
Depay of course had an unsuccessful stint at United earlier in his career, but could become an option again with Cristiano Ronaldo set to leave Old Trafford. The attacker is out of contract in the summer, meaning he would likely be available for a cut-price fee.
He will hope to be involved again when the Netherlands take on Ecuador in their second game of the World Cup. That game will come on Friday at the Khalifa International Stadium, with Van Gaal's men currently sitting top of Group A.
