Membership offer launched to mark official opening of £13m Bingham leisure centre

A new £13 million leisure centre has officially opened in a Nottinghamshire town after two years of construction. The Bingham Arena Leisure Centre on Chapel Lane includes a 25-metre, six lane swimming pool, as well as a fitness centre, community hall and café.

The development has been built close to the Romans' Quarter housing project in Bingham, which will eventually comprise more than 1,000 properties. The official opening of the Bingham Arena was announced on Monday (February 20), with a special founder promotion now available which offers memberships for £37.50 per month.

This offer will be available until February 28 and will see the membership price frozen for three years. The current Bingham Leisure Centre at Toot Hill School will close, although facilities will remain available for outdoor sports including hockey, tennis and athletics, and sports hall activities outside of school hours.

These will be managed by Lex Leisure, which also runs the new site. Current memberships and bookings at the Toot Hill site will transfer over to the new state-of-the-art 5,500 square metre centre.

As well as promoting fitness and exercise, the venue will be home to Bingham Jubilee Community Hall with support from Bingham Town Council. The community hall, named to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's reign, can host up to 300 people and is courtesy of part-funding from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership.

Glen Hall, Parkwood Leisure's Managing Director, said: "The new Bingham Arena is a fantastic addition to the borough's leisure facilities, and further enhances the leisure, health and fitness provision for the community of Bingham and the surrounding area. It's also a great showcase for what can be done to improve the energy efficiency of leisure facilities, which is something that we’re working hard to do across all our sites."

Nottinghamshire Live was recently given a tour of the brand new centre ahead of its official opening. You can see a full gallery of pictures from the tour here.
