A bipartisan group of House members is quietly signing a written pledge to seat every state‑certified winner of the 2026 midterm elections, amid concern that the next Congress could face attempts to block some members‑elect from taking office.

Democrat Josh Gottheimer and Republican Don Bacon launched the effort as some Democrats and anti‑Trump Republicans warn that a narrowly divided, Republican‑controlled House could try to stop newly elected Democrats from being sworn in when the new Congress convenes in January.
