An alleged crime ring smuggling cocaine and heroin into a prison have been rounded up and charged after a police operation.
Detectives at Cheshire Police were investigating the supply of drugs into HMP Risley in Warrington. An extensive operation followed a series of raids In January 2021, when five warrants were executed in Crewe and Alsager.
The force today announced that nine people have been charged with drugs supply offences:

- Charlie Swann, 25, of no fixed address
- Anita Swann, 54, of Meadow Lane, West Derby, Liverpool
- Thurlus Smith, 33, of Waldrons Lane, Crewe
- Nicole Sims, 26, of Lawton Road, Alsager
- Daniel Johnson, 27, of Woodside Avenue, Alsager
- Susan Dodd, 54, of Lawtongate Estate, Church Lawton
- Aaron Dodd, 30, of Cartwright Road, Haslington
- Matthew Cooke, 33, of Grove Court, Alsager
- Katie Bickerton, 21, of Barnabas Avenue, Crewe
The suspects have all been charged with acquiring criminal property, conveying a list ‘A’ prohibited article into prison, conspiracy to supply Class A drugs (cocaine and heroin) and conspiracy to supply class B drug (cannabis resin).
The group will make an initial appearance at Warrington Magistrates' Court on August 2.
