Member of Alameddine crime family charged over alleged Sydney dial-a-dealer drug syndicate

A key member of the Alameddine crime family has been denied bail after being charged over an alleged dial-a-dealer drug syndicate in Sydney’s south-west.

Rachad Alameddine, 30, is one of three men charged over the alleged syndicate.

Wearing a white T-shirt, a mask with his hair tied back Mr Alameddine nodded and said "Yes" when his lawyer, Hisham Karnib, explained his next court date and brief service orders at Parramatta Bail Court.

He was refused bail and is again due in court on Thursday, February 10. 

The Hamzy and Alameddine families have been involved in a gang war that has claimed several lives and terrified innocent residents.

In April 2021, Strike Force Dolci was launched to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in Sydney's south-west.

During the investigation, detectives uncovered a dial-a-dealer drug syndicate, which was suspected to be connected to an organised criminal network.

A 22-year-old man was charged over his alleged role in the syndicate late last year and is next due to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Monday.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a house at Merrylands on Wednesday.

During the search, police seized three mobile phones, clothing as well as cocaine and cannabis.

A 20-year-old man was arrested and taken to Granville Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, knowingly derive material benefit from criminal group, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, two counts supply prohibited drug, and two counts possess prohibited drug.

He appeared at Fairfield Local Court, where he was formally refused bail and will next appear in the same court on Monday.

Police yesterday executed a search warrant at a home, where they seized four mobile phones, clothing, prescription drugs, scales, cocaine and bottles suspected to contain gamma butyrolactone (GBL).

About 10.50am, detectives attended a unit at Yagoona, and allegedly located Mr Alameddine hiding in the roof cavity.

He was arrested and taken to Granville Police Station, where he was charged with large commercial drug supply, supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, knowingly direct activities of a criminal group, and knowingly derive material benefit from a criminal group.
