Melissa Barrera axed from 'Scream VII' after voicing support for Palestine amid Israel-Hamas war; Studio issues statement

Mexican actress Melissa Barrera has been axed from the next 'Scream' film, owing to her social media remarks about the Israel-Hamas war.

According to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, the actress, 33, will no longer appear in the horror franchise's upcoming seventh film after studio bosses allegedly viewed her comments as 'antisemitic'. The production house, Spyglass issued a statement on their stance in the matter. The statement to Variety read, "We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech."
