Mel C has admitted to having a “little chat” with Geri Halliwell-Horner after her Spice Girls bandmate wore white to her wedding.
Last month, Sporty Spice – whose real name is Melanie Chisholm – married Australian model Chris Dingwall in the Lake District.
Her fellow band members, Mel B (Melanie Brown), Emma Bunton and Halliwell-Horner were all in attendance, and while Victoria Beckham couldn’t make it, Chisholm wore an ivory lace silk slip dress custom made by the designer.
But after Halliwell-Horner, 54, got people talking over her choice to wear a long-sleeved dress in white with colour flowers, Chisholm, 52, has revealed her reaction to her fellow Spice Girl breaking a cardinal rule of wedding dressing.
“I did have a little chat with Geri because it is her favorite colour, she wears it every day,” Chisholm told Australian radio station KIIS 1065.
She continued: ”She had a beautiful floral dress on, and it was white. I did have a little giggle with her about that.”
First meeting on Raya, Chisholm and Dingwall met three years ago, with the model proposing last summer.
Following a legal ceremony in Australia, the pair tied the knot in July at a friend’s lakeside home in Cumbria, with their friends and family in attendance.
Chisholm’s Victoria Beckham brand wedding dress also ended up being her “something borrowed”, after the DJ was lent the item by Beckham herself.
Beckham, who was unable to attend as she was supporting husband David at the World Cup final, told British Vogue: “I was actually having dinner with Melanie and asked her what she was up to. She very casually told me she was leaving for Australia in two days and getting married!
“When I asked what she was wearing, she mentioned she had actually ordered one of my dresses but that it didn’t quite fit, and she didn’t have time to get it altered before leaving. I happened to have that exact dress in my own wardrobe and offered to lend it to her.”
Speaking about meeting Dingwall, Chisholm – who shares daughter Scarlett, 17, with her property developer ex Thomas Starr – said that “the spark was immediate”.
“I was 49 when I met Chris and I was in a really good place. We had a date in Australia, and it’s been difficult to separate us ever since,” she said.
