Newcastle United joint-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi shared a post-match selfie with Allan Saint-Maximin following the Magpies’ heroic victory against Everton.
The Toon’s maverick winger was instrumental in Eddie Howe’s side earning all three points and climbing out of the Premier League’s relegation zone.
His electric performance on the left flank gave the Toffees backline nightmares, with his pace and trickery helping him set up Ryan Fraser to put Newcastle in front on 56 minutes.
Everton boss Frank Lampard hailed Saint-Maximin as ‘unplayable’ in his press conference after the game.
He said: “Saint-Maximin, on a night like this, is pretty unplayable at any level of football, the way he played.”
Now, consortium member Ghodoussi - husband of Amanda Staveley - has paid homage to the crowd-pleaser on social media.
The 50-year-old businessman called Saint-Maximin ‘an incredible player and human being’ following the win.
Toon fans replied to the picture, paying tribute to the club’s star player and the openness the new regime has shown since buying the club in October.
@hughseyhbomb: Pay him whatever he wants. Give him whatever he wants. Rename the stadium Saint Maximin Park if you have to. Just KEEP HIM AT THE TOON!
