Newcastle fans have praised co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi for his Twitter exchange with Alan Shearer which showed how the club's approach has changed since the takeover.
Newcastle United got an unexpected 1-0 win over Leeds United yesterday, moving the team up to 18th in the table and getting them closer to possible safety.
After the match, former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer tweeted his joy at the result: “Yeeeeeehaaaaaaaaa well done @NUFC A HUGE 3 points.”
Shearer also tweeted a video of the character Carlton Banks, from the American television programme The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, merrily dancing.
Newcastle’s minority owner Ghodoussi, who is married to Amanda Staveley, replied to Shearer’s tweet with a smiling face and a comment: “That was me last night.”
Ghodoussi also tweeted after yesterday’s win: “What a day…. I’m actually emotional Hopefully the beginning of many more wins. #wecandoit #nufc #BestFansInTheWorld."
Even just those few morsels of public response to the win is a dramatic difference to the Mike Ashley era, a fact appreciated by fans in their responses to the interaction.
Another, @CraigMorrison84, wrote: “Love your enthusiasm mehrdad honestly it’s amazing to see you interacting with us fans just about everyday and that you Amanda and of course @jamiereuben too have all bought into the club it’s a breath of fresh air for us all our club is only going in one direction.”
While @paulkingy87 said: “It will be me next week when we've signed 3 more players.”
Newcastle now head to Saudi Arabia for a mid-season break.
