Mehrdad Ghodoussi has hailed an 'incredible season' for Newcastle United and admits the next campaign 'won't be easy' with Champions League football on the horizon. The Magpies rounded off a memorable season with a 1-1 draw at Chelsea on the final day, knowing a top-four spot was already guaranteed.
Anthony Gordon opened the scoring after only nine minutes with his first goal in black-and-white, converting a low cross from Elliot Anderson. However, this lead was soon cancelled out after Kieran Trippier deflected Raheem Sterling's effort into his own goal.
The point meant Eddie Howe's first full season in charge ended with a fourth-placed finish, as well as a first domestic cup final appearance for more than two decades. Newcastle co-owner Ghodoussi was in the stands at Stamford Bridge, and took to social media following the full-time whistle to thank the Toon Army for their support.
