Meghan Trainor says she was 'heavier than I've ever been' after C-section birth

Meghan Trainor has opened up about how she felt 'super lost' after giving birth to her baby boy Riley last year as she developed stretch marks and became 'heavier than ever'.

The All About That Bass singer welcomed Riley, with husband Daryl Sabara, 30, through a C-section in February 2021 and has since spoken about how the procedure was a ' terrifying ' experience.

Speaking to MailOnline, Megan admitted that the changes to her body that happened as a result is reflected in her upcoming album Takin' It Back.

Meghan said: "The first song I wrote after giving birth, I mean after having a C-section with my stretch marks, I was feeling extra, like, not loving myself.

"I was heavier than I've ever been and I was just super lost. The first song I wrote is called Remind Me and it's about how my husband reminds me who I once was and then how beautiful he thinks I am and I see a lot of that in this album."

Meghan said that knowing she managed to get through her C-section made her realise that she is 'way stronger' than she thought she was and that it's given her a new attitude towards her body.

The mother said: "I can handle a lot more than I thought. I'm way stronger than I thought I was. I always say, "Well, if I got through that C-section, I can do anything!"

She now makes an effort to go to the gym every day and takes pride in being strong.

Meghan created her latest body of work while adapting to life as a mother, she said that as she focused on 'trying to get out of [her] head' about what would be popular on the radio and focusing on her 'doo-wop' which she insisted was the sound she loves.

The singer said that it was challenging working on the project while looking after her son. She said: "It was challenging having my baby. I was home luckily for most of it but I was also like, 'Hey, bring my kid downstairs. I want to see him,"'you know, and we would have to take baby breaks.".

Meghan made sure that she would be able to go upstairs by 6.30pm to give her son a bath and bedtime routine.
