Meghan Markle has admitted she is missing her two children while attending the Invictus Games with her husband Prince Harry.
The Duchess of Sussex took a break from watching athletes taking part in events, including sitting volleyball, to read to a group of kids as part of a private event.
During her visit she told British Army veteran James Stride she missed her kids, Archie, three, and Lilibet, 10 months, who she and Harry left at home at their £12million California home.
James told The Mail : “Meghan was quite chatty and told me she was missing her children.
“She said she wanted to be with children as she was missing her own.
“Meghan told me she was familiar with the book and one that she read to her own children. She was very friendly, and the book was well known by her family.”
During the reading a member of Meghan’s security team was on hand to keep an eye on any potential trouble brewing.
Outside Meghan stopped to pose with some of the people at the event who had asked for a picture.
Earlier the couple had watched today's action next to Jaco Van Gass, a Paralympian gold medallist and former Invictus competitor who suffered life-changing injuries with the British Army.
The 35-year-old said: "Invictus is his family, basically.
"There's so many familiar faces that he's not seen in a while, and again to all the nations, just to catch up with them again.
"He's back with his own people, he's back in an environment that he's so natural in and that he cares about.
"I think that's the most important thing - this great depth of care that he has for the games."
Harry and Meghan looked relaxed during their visit to the games on Sunday and held hands for much of the time.
During the opening ceremony Harry spoke about Archie and revealed how they chat about what the toddler wants to be when he grows up.
The youngster's ambitions include a daredevil cartoon cat who dresses like a pirate.
Harry said: "To be role models, or the role models, that each of you are takes strength and it takes courage.
“When I talk to my son Archie about what he wants to be when he grows up, some days it’s an astronaut, other days it’s a pilot – a helicopter pilot obviously. Or Kwazii from Octonauts. If you’re laughing then you’ve seen that.
"But what I remind him is that no matter what you want to be when you grow up, it’s your character that matters most, and nothing would make his mum and me prouder than to see him have the character of what we see before us today.”
Archie, who will be three in May, was born in the UK before moving to the US with the family in 2020 and Lilibet has only known life in California where she was born in June last year.
