The contributing editor at Vanity Fair has quashed claims made by a royal biographer in an explosive new book, alleging that Meghan Markle made him feel 'manipuated' when he interviewed her. Tom Bower's latest biography 'Revenge: Meghan and Harry and the war between the Windsors' was released this week and contains big claims about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Last week, Vanity Fair's Sam Kashner slammed the biography for containing extraordinary suggestions about his cover story interview with Meghan in 2017, The Mirror reports. The interview took place in Meghan's Toronto flat and Mr Bower claimed in his biography that the Duchess-to-be made insulting comments about Mr Kashner's way of speaking.
These claims were published as part of an excerpt from the biography in The Times last weekend, which detailed how Meghan had allegedly told Mr Kashner she liked him because of his stutter, which made her feel he was 'not like a typical journalist'. Mr Bower wrote in the book that this left Vanity Fair's contributing editor wondering if he was 'being played'.

Mr Bower penned: "It was a cat-and-mouse game, he reasoned, and she was calculating how to take advantage of the cards played."
Responding to the claims, Mr Kashner wrote a letter to the newspaper, and put his views across. He wrote: "Sir, I'm afraid Tom Bower didn't convey my admiration and respect for Meghan Markle in the excerpt of his new book in The Times on Saturday ("Writer 'felt manipulated' by Meghan").
"I found Ms Markle to be exceptionally warm and gracious and admired her intelligence and remarkable courage, as I still do."
Mr Kashner, in addition to offering his belated congratulations to Prince Harry for 'marrying such an extraordinary woman', denied he had a stutter. He may have 'hem and haw' in his speech, but he believes that this is a stammer, rather than a stutter.
The claim that Meghan commented on Mr Kashner's supposed speech impediment is not the only allegation Mr Bower made pertaining to her front cover issue of Vanity Fair. Mr Bower also claimed that Meghan was left 'furious' following the publication of the October 2017 interview, alleging that it downplayed her charity work in favour of her relationship with Prince Harry.
The headline, which read "She’s just wild about Harry", came despite her efforts to focus the piece on her own acting work and philanthropy. Mr Kashner did not comment on this claim within the letter.
