The Queen voiced her "surprise" that Meghan Markle chose to wear pure white on her wedding day, an explosive new book has claimed.
The New Royals, written by Katie Nicholls, explores the relationships between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the newly crowned Prince and Princess of Wales and King Charles III over the years with inside sources giving behind the scene stories.
Meghan, Harry, William and Kate were once dubbed the 'Fab Four' but cracks reportedly started to appear before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding day in May 2018 and the relationship between the two brothers has deteriorated ever since.
Tensions were said to build in the run-up to the wedding at St George's Chapel, Windsor, with reports of arguments over a tiara, what the bridesmaids should wear and Meghan's dad's poor health meaning Charles walked her down the aisle.
Meghan, who was previously married to American actor Trevor Engelson between 2011 and 2013, chose a simple boat-neck dress designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy for her fairytale royal wedding, however, it was the choice of colour which was questioned by the Queen.
An inside source told Nicholls: "The Queen was surprised that Meghan wore pure white on her wedding day.
"Perhaps it's a generational thing, but she believes if you've been married before, you wear off-white on your wedding day, which is what the Duchess of Cornwall did."
Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal life in early 2020 and moved to the United States with their son Archie, before welcoming daughter Lilibet in 2021.
They were reunited with Kate and William during a walkabout in the 10 days of mourning after the longest reigning monarch in British history died at the age of 96 at Balmoral.
It seemed as though the gesture to attend Windsor Castle seemed to be an olive branch from William to Harry, although Nicholls believes too much has been done for a full reconciliation.
She told GB News, when discussing the book, said: "One of the things I was told by a source very close to William is that he just cannot forgive his brother and I think that's why Harry's gone back [to California] without any truce.
"William simply can't forgive him, not just for his behaviour and what he's done and how he's done it, but look at how much weighs on William.
"He always thought Harry would be his wingman, now William is doing it on his own. Thank goodness he has Kate by his side because together they are a really strong team."
The Mirror has contacted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's representatives for comment.
